On my 65 f250 I have running lights, turn signals and hazard lights but no brake light I replaced the bulbs and switch that is on the master cylinder. It also seems that the left turn signals when on is dim compared to right and when I use the left signal I can see the right flash a little
First place I would look would be the turn signal switch. Probably pretty dirty. Remove the steering wheel to access, examine and clean. Also check the brake light socket center contact to see if you're getting 12 volts when the brake pedal is depressed as well as the socket housing for good grounding.

I checked the wire going to the switch on cylinder it's getting power to it just not coming out but I connected a lead to both wires and the brakes come on so I think I bought a faulty switch

If it’s a fluid pressure operated switch, you could relocate the wires to a pedal mounted electric switch from a later model. That’s what I did on my 63.

I thought of doing that or a mechanical switch... wasn't sure on how to do the electric switch
I went with the pedal switch route also. The pressure switch worked before replacing the master cylinder and booster. Afterwards could never get it to work even replaced it twice.
