It may just be, and I know it's not, but you don't see 140" WheelBase truck all over the place, not often...
The only one everyone sees around here everywhere is mine

I posted a whole brochure on options for '78/'79 in post # 473-476.

"Jackpot, it did say EXPLORER, not XLT.
Good catch."

Sorry, 78 F1 Hundo, I have a 74 Ranger XLT, that has an "XLT" grill emblem. It also has the passenger-side bed box, bottle jack storage (and original bottle jack) on the left wheel well under the hood, passenger-side vanity mirror visor, camper power outlet in the bed, 9 bolt rearend, and twin tanks.

rare options

After playing with Fords 1973-79 for the last 30 years, been in many junk yards, I have seen all of these but very rare. ( area Oregon and Northern California) here is my list:

Front factory tow hooks
Inside dash lock light (blue) for 4x4
Rear window defrost
F150 rear factory overload leaf and frame bracket
F150 rear sway bar, identical to the 1978-79 Broncos on the (9" ford rear end)
Cruise control on a stick shift (factory)
Aux battery tray
radiator overflow tank ( factory)
Front dual shocks F150
4x4 midsip poly tank and metal bracket, have not seen many, most rusted out.
Deluxe spare tire carrier slide out type with ford lock
Hood hinge reinforcements for truck equipped with factory canopies
Engine block heater (factory)
White spoke wagon wheels 5 hole with black caps (Factory)
73-79 fords on the highway with original state license plates ????
Ford factory canopy j hooks with rubber ring
Ford factory CB

I know many of these have been listed before, but from my experience i have seen very few of these option, and i have looked over thounsands of trucks I am kinda of addicted to thes old trucks just love them.
Any input?

How many of the following have you seen?

D4TZ15200A .. Per-Lux All Weather DLR installed Seal Beam Driving Lamp Kit / Offered 1974/77.

How about this puppy? C3UZ8720092A .. Styleside Bed Step / Offered 1963/79.

If you don't have the accessory manual that was only used at the dealers parts counter...as P. T. Barnum used to say..."You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

There's dozens of accessories y'all prolly haven't seen...or have ever heard of.

btw: The Ford "canopy" (camper shell) was actually made by Open Road.

The wrinkle (textured) spray on (looks like a vinyl) roof paint option was first offered in 1967...on everything, not just trucks, and was also available in black.

C7AZ19500Y .. White Wrinkle Roof Paint / One quart can.

C7AZ19500Z .. Black Wrinkle Roof Paint / One quart can.

I did not know that. I did not start going to shows until last year, but never saw anything else like that, so I figured it was unique, and to find that I can still get some if needed is even better. Thanks for not just responding but the extra info.

My 1977 has no trim at all. Nothing on the sides, nothing above the wheel arches, nothing on drip rails or around tail lights. I love it.

I'm pretty sure every full time 4x4 truck (NP203) had that blue lock light. My dad and uncle love the full time 4x4 for some reason so I've seen a lot of them and they all had it.

Blue 4x4 light

Yes all NP203 had them I just have not seen many full time 4x4 with the light and no moving parts on the outside hub. I have seen maybe 3 or 4 in my time and owned one. I think many people converted or install part time kits form mile marker to create a part time situation. You are correct in your information, in our part of the country I just have not seen many. I wander if the damand was high or low and Ford did not make many?

There were quite a few 203s, they were just not as popular as 205s, I still have one in a parts rig.

Number Dummy is that paint what was used on the bronco tops, I have always wondered how to repaint them and keep the look.
