On dual tanks, is there 2 fuel pumps?

I was making a list of all the stuff I should be checking up on. On my 92 flareside does it have two pumps or just one? The reason I ask is it seems to have more power when on the front tank then back. My friends say it is in my head, and maybe it is, but a pump that is partailly cloged or going out would suck power, right?

Mine has a pump in each tank. On earlier models I am not sure. You might check along the frame rail and see if there is a pump there. If there is, then that is probably it. Sorry I couldn't answer with more certainty.

If there is a pump on the frame, then there is also a pump in each tank. The 92 just has a single high pressure pump in each tank.

I believe they did away with the 3rd pump(on the frame rail) in 1990. Therefore, you should only have 2 pumps, 1 in each tank.

Click my signature and look in the EFI Fuel Pump photo album. Your pickup's tank will be slightly different, but the procedure and tools are the same.
