Need to know where return spring goes

I have a 2001 f250 6.8 and my pedal won't stop so I had to tie a piece of string to get it to stop. I'm pretty sire its the clutch return spring but I can't find the old one. Where does it hook to?

The return spring is the pressure plate itself bolted to the flywheel, if your pedal is going right to the floor and not returning by itself then you need to look at the clutch hydraulics and clutch fork(if your truck has one). Also look for loose bolts on the clutch master cylinder, worn out bushing on the clutch pedal to master linkage, low clutch fluid.

Pretty sure you aren't missing anything, and there's already a big blue spring attached to the pedal and the bracket. I wouldn't tie string to your wiring harness like that, then try to use the pedal, though - you're likely to damage/brake a connector and you'll have more problems.

I echo the advice above, if you've verified that the pedal/mount isn't broken then you're looking at a hydraulic or actual clutch issue.
