What tells the engine (ecm) that the transmission has gone from Park to Drive?
My issue is with my 94 7.5L F53 RV stalling, when warm (runs great cold, first 20 minutes, no issues), when from Park I pull it into Drive. For example; you tool down the road for an hour then pull off for gas. You gas up, start the engine (everything seems ok), pull it into Drive... and poof, total flame out. No shuddering or balking, just dead just as leaver moves into D. Restarts ok, and by tapping the accelerator WHILE shifting, you're able to keep things going. Once in Drive everything seems OK.
Just started a few months ago, now and them, but now every time. Thoughts?
The Manual-lever-position-sensor (MLPS) on the side of the transmission tells the ECU what gear you've selected. Problem could be a bad ECU, a bad MLPS, a bad Throttle position sensor, or a dirty or sticking idle air controller.
First thing to do is to check for trouble codes. Here's how. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...aper-clip.html
