I have 2 1979 broncos and a 79 f150 supercab 4x4.I normally hang out in the 73-79 form.
I'm looking at buying the 85bronco but don't know anything about this generation. Please point me to some good threads to learn about this generation. What things to look for or avoid. Mechanical wise. It has sat since September so I know the fuel will be bad. So I will need to clean the fuel lines and injectors. It is not the 4sp OD but granny gear. What sensors to look for or watch? I have been reading the stickers and some other threads. Looking for directions.
1985 300 six will not be fuel injected. It will have a computer controlled carb and ignition system that you will want to convert over to a conventional carb and ignition system.

Thank you. What year was the first year for EFI? OBD1.
Would it take much to pull the parts from an OBD1 vehicle (300 I6) and put on this? OR skip the problems and buy a new EFI carb?
1987 was the first year for EFI on the 300 six. Unless you like playing with lots of old wiring, I would not swap a OEM Ford EFI system on it. I would use a carb, or I guess you could find a aftermarket throttle body EFI. The original EFI systems can be very difficult to troubleshoot when you have problems.
Before 87 when Ford went to EFI on the 300 the computer controlled carbs (83-86) was called feed back system.
BTW with the feed back system will run, just not good, with a bad sensor. The thing is trying to figure what is wrong and the big one where to get good parts.
As DaveF said if you dont have to pass smog just replace the carb & dist. with pre-feed back ones and then pull all the feed back stuff off.
It is not hard as all the wiring is in place fore the non-feed back parts to "bolt on" but may like plug in.
Now if you want to add EFI Holley makes a kit that bolts on to the factory log intake manifold in place of the carb.
What I have heard as I have not done this is the bolt pattern is a little different between the EFI throttle body and the manifold but they say a little hand file work and it will bolt on.
Other than the fuel system from sitting like you said there is nothing that much different than from the years you know.
If you do find something that trips you up we can walk you thru on a fix.
