So much great information! This is a great group. So glad I found it. I'll be picking it up this afternoon. I'm so excited ... what a fun find for my first classic. Pics to come!

Not exactly. As it was explained to me by people who worked in the plants, the rotation number was assigned to a vehicle as it was beginning production. Ford knew how many vehicles would be in production in the plant at any given time, 1-1417, for example, and a number was assigned in order so they could keep track of where and when a particular vehicle would be in the rotation. This enabled the factory to have the correct parts and options available, or painted the correct color, at the time a particular vehicle was going down the line at each assembly station. The numbers would start over, rotating, after it was clear there would be no duplicates in the line. As number 1 was driving out of the plant, 1417 was being assigned at the frame making station, then the next in line would be #1 again, etc. Again, these numbers are purely for example, not particular plant numbers.

Yep. The thing to remember here is the op's car is a car, not a truck, and we need to look to car data for answers. Interestingly, it seems to be harder to find, sometimes, than our truck info.

Welcome to FTE! Even though you technically have a car, this is probably the best place to get any answers you need.
Now, pictures, pictures, pictures. We need pictures.
Does it still have the original engine? Either way, we would be interested to know what it has.
You mentioned driving it home. That's good. It's nice to start with something that is drivable. Be sure to verify brakes are in good working order before you go far.

What part of the country (or world) do you hail from?

I'm in north Alabama. It has the original 110hp 239 Flathead V8. And when I drove it yesterday it cranked first time and brakes seemed OK. I dont want to push it hard and break any speed records in it. All in all, it seems pretty solid. I'm picking it up this afternoon and will post pictures when I get it home. So far it's seemed too good to be true. I don't want to jinx it ... I won't feel comfortable until it's in the garage. Lol

Oldest car I've ever owned was a 74 and I never paid attention to details back then either...lol

Ok. I got it home and here it is. And after much research, yes, it is technically a car even though insurance and the bank both classify it as a truck. But yes, it is a car. I didn't even know what I had until i got on this forum.

And guys, thank you everyone who chimed in and assisted. What a great group! I spent the rainy afternoon crawling around it and looking at the engine and piddling. I'm already hooked!

I crawled around and looked and looked, but didn't see a frame stamp today, but honestly didn't really know where to look on the passenger side.

On our truck the stamp is on top of the frame rail back towards the firewall.
Here is what someone else posted somewhere: "It Is on the top of the right (passenger) frame, 52.5 " back from the front end of the frame. It starts and ends with an asterisk."
Now it could be different on your vehicle though.

By the way very cool looking. It looks to be in great shape.
Now for pictures of the engine bay.

Thank you. It's been converted to 12v. It has work that needs to be done, for sure. This is going to be fun!
