Anyone know a good way to silence noisy fan belts. I've tightened them as tigh as I can get them, but they are still noisy. Hoping someone might know a trick!?!?!
Some belts if they are too wide will whine, and otherwise if the pullys are bent or out of alignment...they will whine also. Just my 3 cents worth of experance.
If you mean noisy as in loose, squealing belts then the belt dressing works great. I had that problem years ago and bought the dressing at Pep Boys, it either sprays or squirts on from a small container I forget. I do remember it being a little messy unless you use a rag or something to block the overspray.
I forgot to add...if you mean noisy as in a grinding sound then its probably one of your accessories (altenator, water pump, etc) with a bearing going bad.
