Hi, I have a 2024 F250 on order at the moment that will come with the stiletto key not the push button. Does Ford make a standard non stiletto key? I know Chevy does it but I'm unsure about Ford. It looks obsurd on the 23+ to have the stiletto style key sticking out of the dash.
The added length of the fob plus additional keys adds uneeded stress and wear on the ignition.
20 years of fleet management and I've never seen an ignition switch fail from having the weight of a keys on them....
Good luck finding a solution for your "issue."

I can understand the OP's concern, as I also have that switchblade key on my fob. And, yeah, it sometimes feels like I've shoved a screwdriver into the ignition lock, the way it kind of moves around. It's noticeable enough that I insert and remove the key carefully and take care not to strike it accidentally while it's inserted.
It's not like using the simple keys of yesteryear; the extra length of the fob acts as a fulcrum against the lock. And any other keys attached at the end of the fob just aggravates the stress on the lock.
I've taken to using one those disconnecting keyrings so that just the fob is used. But still, the ignition lock doesn't appear to be very stout compared to other vehicles I've owned.

I am used to the older more simplistic keys as until recently intentionally kept to the older fords. But that disconnecting key ring may be the best solution as I carry a fair amount of keys on a daily basis. I will look into a few different options as I get closer to the build date. Thank you for your help!
Are you talking about the "switchblade key" that flips out of the fob when you push the button on the side?
If so, no alternative that I have ever seen.
But, as to key weight wearing on the switch, I used to see this on older cars when someone had a ton of excess junk on their key ring, all hanging off the ignition key stuck in the switch.
Easy fix for that though, just don't have a bunch of junk on the key ring.
This isn't a key but it is a way to add keyless functionality, an alarm system, remote start and a GPS tracker to your truck. The motorcycle version is awesome, especially in the winter - no taking off gloves or fumbling with keys. Just get on the bike, start it and go.
You can tell you're not experienced here then.
But they're more commonly referred to as a flip key. Yeah, they're a bit bulky. But better than carrying a separate fob like I have to with my 2007 Mustang and 2001 Lincoln Town Car. It's either the fob, keypad every time or manual unlock with key every time.
