I parked my '92 F-150 a couple weeks ago and pulled the plug wires to put on another truck. I then replaced plugs and wires and the truck will not start. It ran fine when I parked it but won't start now. I get spark to plugs, and there seems to be pressure at the fuel rail but won't start. The computer gave me codes TP 63 which says Sensor Signal Below minimum (possible short) and a Fuel Pump circuit filure - PCM to GRD. Any Ideas?
do you hear the fuel pump wind up when you turn the key on? I ain't got my code cheat sheet in front of me but I assume that 63 is the tp sensor? Did you do anything else at all to the truck. Have you had to boost it lately or anything? I would start by getting out a test light and checking all the fuses and look at the fuse links over by the solonoid. Sounds like an electrical problem. Listen for that fuel pump and go from there. You should hear it wind up a few seconds then click off.
Oh yeah check your grounds. There should be 1 ground strap by the r r corner of the engine and a couple on the left side. I would take them off even if they are good and clean them with a wire brush.
You might try resetting the fuel pump inertia switch to make sure you have a complete circuit. It should be located in the cab on the drivers side, up against the firewall, to the left of the brake pedal, or behind the right kick panel.
I can hear the fuel pump and I have already checked the fuel inertia switch. I checked all of the fuses in the Distribution box under the hood and also checked the fuses in the fuse panel. But will look into fusable links and grounds and let ya know. Thanks
