I too have passed my wife in her Excursion and the brighter white 6k temperature light is by no means in your eyes...as they are adjusted to hit the ground in front of the truck. Like I said, I converted these trucks many years back with no issues of blinding on coming traffic...but I did adjust them where they need to be. Glad you brought it up though Tylus as I just yesterday got the 04 18" wheels with 35's installed on my F350, so I'll need to adjust them accordingly so I don't blind on coming traffic...
they look great! I have the 04 HD 18” wheels going on in a few weeks,
Gentlemen, since opinions on headlights are as most other things in life perception. I’ll offer mine….
LED, LED, LED! I don’t care what anyone says, if you do your research, nothing will be brighter than HID. LED doesn’t compare to throwing light down the road. Now I will probably get flamed for that statement and that’s fine.
Here’s what I did. My Excursion is a 2001 and I kept the 2-piece headlight/marker light configuration. I installed CAPA certified 2004 headlight housings. They have a clear lens and a much better reflector than what it came with from the factory. The “cutoff” that everyone is obsessed with isn’t as clean as a projector lens but it does have a good pattern. If you’re going aftermarket headlights, I highly recommend CAPA certified. You can Google CAPA certification if you need explanation but basically it’s as good as OEM.
Regardless what headlamp housing you get, and if you don’t want to polish or replace them about every two years, cover them with a 3M clear vinyl film with UV protection. There’s a company called Invisible Mask who has pre cut patterns that fit nicely.
Testimony: This is my third Excursion, all three 2001 Limited trim. Just the exterior colors were different. On my current Excursion, one of the first things I did was to remove those crappy OEM ones. The light that they broadcast is just horrible at best. I installed the CAPA certified 2004 headlight and at just about the 2 to 2-1/2 year mark they began to yellow haze so, I bought a set of Invisible Mask vinyl covers. That was nearly 3 years ago. Today they are as clean and clear as they were new. And I use the drive-through car wash weekly.
The area covered is perfectly clear and the sides of the headlight housing not covered by the vinyl is yellow. Next set of headlight housings will be covered around the sides too so they will look newer longer.
To sum it up, I have crisp clean light that lights up the road ahead and I like it that way! 👍 Don’t look into the light! lol
Thank you. That grill gets lots of compliments. After three years the finish is getting a little weather beaten so I'm considering having a bodyshop paint it with the same color for durability. It's on the list along with painting the hood and the trim where the third brake light is.
Lol, I meant DMS . . do mine similar. I am just going to pull it off, accurately tape and sand it, then prime and paint the non chrome areas. I have an old truck and its kinda stupid trying to upgrade grills, etc to make it look modern. Yours looks great.

Ahh gotcha! Be sure to post pictures. I'm a visual guy. lol
I purchased brand new Ford housings and installed Beam Tech LED bulbs.
The light output is better than non LED bulbs (Sylvania Silverstars)
I aimed the housings properly and clocked the bulbs per instructions. Have never been flashed on high beams or low beams.
If you aim the housings too high, they are very bright to the approaching drivers!
My only complaint comparing to OEM bulbs is that I can only use low or high beam.
The OEM setup allowed a pull on the stalk and both non LED bulbs would light up. But only for the time you are pulling on the stalk. I do miss this feature.
Not the best option, but better than OEM.
I just noticed Sylvania now has LED 9007 bulbs. Have not tried them.
I wont do a conversion on the standard to projector, plan to buy a new set of projectors. Seems that if you run led, you should use projector, correct?

I haven't had any issues in either truck with the regular clear lenses running LED bulbs in them for many years now. They produce plenty of light...a substantial amount more than the factory halogens...but it's critical to get the correctly designed bulb with the right light color.
Not the cheapest option but the lights are amazing, The gap is not there once the headlights are adjusted correctly. I have 2 Excursions and they worked so good I did it to both
