Usually a lack of maintenance causes it to stiffen up. Remove, clean, lubricate and replace. Unless, of course, it didn't operate smoothly so you hammered on it until it broke.....
What model transmission? If automatic, there should be a tag right under the shifter selector body you plan to replace. Make sure the replacement part comes off of the same model transmission.
Take pictures of yours with linkage. Compare to the replacement. Better yet, take the old one with you.
yes the F150 uses the same 4X4 floor shifter as the F250.
the only difference between 4X4 shifters is what year it is from.
some push down to shift into 4 low, some you pull left to shift to 4 low.

I am trying to reply to everyone who is answering me and I can not figure out how to reply to you all I am sorry and greatful for all the help my old one got lost in a move from Texas to Oklahoma along with the aluminum shifter that mounts to transmission which I already have that that replacement piece I am worried that the floor shifter is from a different year model but it is from an obs thanks again
the only way to tell is by looking at the shift ****, or putting it on and trying it.
but if memory serves correct, they are both pull back to 4 high, than with trans in neutral and foot on brakes push down and pull back to 4 low.
i want to say push shift lever left and pull back ended in 92. but am not sure
