Forscan help

I’ve got a 20 f350 with the 6.7, I have the extended forscan license and the recommended adapter. But I can’t seem to see yet alone access half of what I should be able to. Does anyone have an instructional video? Everyone that gets shared starts halfway through or isn’t instructional at all.

This seems to be what everyone else gets, got the pic from the forscan thread. I only show maybe 4 modules and the related categories for those 4.

can you post a photo of your adapter, also what version of ForScan are you using ?

Most answers can be found in the ForScan sticky at the top of this subforum

Here’s what I bought, pretty sure it’s the one recommended in the sticky.
As for forscan, I’ll have to double check the version when I get home but it was updated a week ago.

When it asks if it's your truck from last time you used it (I can't remember the exact terminology) click No. it may take some time to recognize all the modules but each time you use it you should let it think it's a truck you've never hooked up before. Make sense?

I always use the same profile and have never had issues. Why would you want fifty eleven profiles of the same truck?

Because I had the same problem once. Contacted Forscan and that was their advice. If it's working fine then keep but if you start having issues like the OP I would recommend what I previously stated.

@cpobst is absolutely correct. Never save profile never load a profile. I have seen freeze frame DTC stay that weren’t actually active.

@Eaglescout94 have you updated the EX firmware ?

This explains the purpose of vehicle profiles. Creating a new profile is the fix for a lot of problems.

I too am in the same boat. I am willing to pay for instruction but my funds are very limited. I have recently bought December 2022, a 2012 Ford 550 Super Duty 4X4 with only 12,00km's and I don't want to screw up my truck as Forscan is a very powerful tool that can solve problems or create problems. I know I don't know enough to use Forscan safely. I also ask are builds for Canada different than USA builds and or how different requirements of laws affect the use of Forscan? I would equate the use of Forscan to tinkering with your computers bios one mistake or miscalculation can cause disaster. I was intending on primarily using Forscan for two uses to find out want codes are being triggered so I can resolve them and or to clear the codes and then I can see what is going on in the here and now.

Donevan donevan@outlook.com 519-981-7567. I live in the Windsor, Ontario and across the river is Detroit. If you find some good materials can you shoot me a link?

Using Forscan as a diagnostic tool is 100% safe. Reading DTCs and monitoring data will not change anything in the vehicle's modules (ecu's). But understanding the data takes research and experience.

I’ll definitely hook up and load without using the pre-existing profile. I think I made that with the old adapter and possibly not updated forscan. The new adapter I have was upgraded last time I plugged in to try and add some stuff.
