I have just bought an 02 F-350, and it has the towing mirrors on it. Getting it into my garage is tight and I have to fold in the drivers mirror. I thought about replacing them with the Sport mirrors, but I do not know which way to go about getting the plastic trim off. Anybody got any ideas?
Also, will folding the mirror in and out daily ruin it? Friend say's it will, and I just assumed it was designed to move in or out.
i have a set of regular/ not the trailor towing power mirrors i just took of of a brand new truck bc they wanted trailor towing mirrors if you are interested?
Sparta-,
I can't e-mail you as I do not have 25 posts yet. E-mail me if you can about those mirrors.
Anybody know how to take the mirrors off? I am ignorant on this project.
hey....better deal for you. I will trade you my sport mirrors for your TT mirrors straight up...both of us pay for our own shipping.......mine are power, are yours?
Try & get hold of the spring issue of Power Stroke registry, pg. 72. This has the best explanation of how to remove or install factory mirrors on Superdutys. If you can't, basically the artical says to : 1- lower both windows if their electric & disconnect both batteries. 2- open door & look @ door jam where hinges are, you should see two rubber grommets, remove to access nuts. There will be a plastic trim cover over the last two nuts. pull out on this cover & it will pop off. It's a little snug but will come off fairly easy, I reccomend leaving @ least two nuts on until you have the door panel & wiring disconnected. 3- Pry (gently) on the front of the electric panel on the arm rest. It will pop up, then slide it forward & out, Disconnect wiring. 4- You will see a mounting bolt that holds door panel on, remove this. The other bolt is behind the doors courtesy light, (gently) pry the cover off & remove the light & the other door panel bolt. 5- Lift door panel off disconnecting any wires & speakers. Piece of cake from there on out , hope this helps.
