Floor covering for my e100
I picked up a 69 e100 in the california desert with a bad engine and wiring that was all cut up and tangled up like a plate of spaghetti. I played around with the wiring enough for the starter and ignition circuits. After paying someone 1,300 to install a bad used engine that the seller told me "runs great," I found a replacement, put it on a stand and completely rebuilt it myself and then paid another mechanic another 1,300 to put it in. I'm done weeping, and now the van is starting to shape up. I've had to figure out a lot of the confused, miswired stuff after finding some really good wiring diagrams, and now I'm fixing odds and ends once in a while. OK, I've definitely spent more on this thing that I can ever get back out of it, finished all the cussing and spitting and stomping my feet, and it's actually starting to feel fun now. It starts and runs beautiful. It's still covered with ugly spray can primer but pretty much rust free, all the door locks work, it has factory air (not working yet,) three on the tree, and my beautiful, freshly rebuilt 302. You get the picture. This will be a nice van with a little bit more messing around.
Another nice step forward would be to get decent looking floor covering in the front. Any suggestions? I'd like it to be as close to the original rubber mat from the factory as I can get. What have others done? Are there vendors that make a decent replacement? Or is there something I can buy that is a good substitute?
Thanks in advance,
Scott
