I was all set to buy a Super Duty.
i had figured out what I wanted and sheduled an appointment to place an order.
I understood the build would take a while.
And then . . .
Just to verify, the wife and I sat in an F150 to see what the Platinum seats felt like. The passenger seat bottom does not tilt. WTF?
Driver's side does. Expedition passenger seat does.
Check an F250 Lariat, since there is one (sold) on the lot. Passenger seat bottom does not tilt.
We had looked at a '22 KR last year. Both seat bottoms tilted.
who would have thought they'd take that away.
The wife wants to see over the hood and have her feet on the floor (and ride in the passenger seat), so now Ford is off the table and I have to find something else.
Them playing games with the heated wheel and multicontour seats was one thing. We could always give those up and downgrade plans to a Lariat and save some money, but now we have to look to GM to save the day.
I don't know exactly how I feel about this. Disappointed, upset, they just don't do it.
I agree with uncomfortable seats. My first long trip of 850 miles non stop. My back and shoulders were killing me in my F350. . I think it took a long time for my body to adjust. Now no more issues.
If this really is so this is a deal breaker for me.
My seat bottoms tilt in my 17 cab and chassis.
Because I will need to do something sooner then later
and my rear is in this seat way to much.
Just Chilling, the driver's seat does tilt. It is the passenger's seat that does not.
The Limiteds might, but I don't want to go that far, so I don't recall.
Something else I am unhappy with Ford for is the errors in their order guides and online. The seat descriptions are incorrect, so the only way to know what you are getting is to see one in person.
I think it was better when they printed catalogs, people probably did some error checking back then.
When I was given a 2021 Bronco sport badlands to use at work, I couldn't believe there was no tilt forward.
Thankfully I gave it back when I retired in April. VERY uncomfortable.
I then find out cheap *** ford removed them from high optioned super dutys.
That tilt forward saves my SI joint pain.
The driver and passenger on Lariat, KR, Platinum is in the order guide as an 8 way adjustable... Limited shows 10 way driver and 8 way passenger.
forward, backwards, up, down is 4 functions on the base... I dont believe the base on either side will tilt, im pretty sure the "up/down" function is the whole seat.
lean forward, back and then lumbar in or out is the 4 on the back...
When I head out later ill check out my 23 Lariat to see if the seat base will tilt, but I think thats a no.
my 2021 lariet both fronts tilt and have lumbar support, heated and cooled.
I just checked the order guide for 2021 superduty and it shows 10 way power driver seat and 8 way power passenger seat. Says "6 way power adjustable track" which to me means it will tilt the front and rear not just go up and down with the whole base, but thats on drivers side only. The passenger side should be the normal 8 way and the whole base should go up or down, but not tilt... at least according to the order guide for 21...
The 2022 order guide reads the same as the 2021. 10 way driver, 8 way passenger.
The 2023 order guide says 8 way driver and passenger, but ill check my 23 Lariat out in a bit and see if it is perhaps an error in the order guide or if they dropped the tilt ability in 2023...
2021 F150 order guide shows seats as both being 10 way... 2022 shows 10 way for both... 2023 shows 10 way for both...
So if the order guide is showing 10 way for both driver and passenger for the F150, thats odd that the passenger side base wouldnt tilt. If it was a SuperDuty then the order guide says 8 way and I would not expect a tilting base.
Its also odd that the Superduty is only 8 way where the F150 is 10 way since they are, in essence, the same exact seat.
I spend the money to swap in some nice earlier model seats, or go full aftermarket, before I looked at buying a GM. They have good drivetrains..but that's about it. Ford>Dodge>used Ford>older used Ford>used Dodge>Maybe GM
I have the same problem. My 2017 2500HD had a tilt forward seat, it was pretty comfortable. My 2023 SD STX has no power adjustments, but is overall a pretty comfortable seat... I should know, I just finished a 2200mi round trip to IN in it.
As far as the tilt forward part, I fix that by putting shims (washers) under the rear seat mount, effectively lifting the rear of the seat. The poor man's adjustable seat. There are ways to address a non-adjustable seat... shims and filler being my usual avenues.
My 23 lariat with max recline(I dont know that this makes a difference)
Driver seat:
Base: forward, backward, raise/lower front or rear individually... I guess that is what is considered seat base "tilt". Or is it something else?
Back: recline, un-recline(whatever its called), lumbar in and out.
Passenger seat:
Base: forward, backward, raise/lower the whole seat...
Back: recline, un-recline, lumbar in and out...
So driver seat "appears" to be 10 way... Passenger seat appears to be 8 way...
