Save the $50 and buy some more CRACK! (Can't believe you had to ask.)

I'd buy it without blinking.

I paid as much for a set of washers (actually shims)...

On any pre 1980 FE based truck, they are worth probably $1000 in parts if you are willing to remove, clean and advertise the parts on Ebay.

no brainer!

i know a guy here in iowa that does that, he finds old fords around at junk yards and other places and tears them apart on the weekends and sells everything from the them on ebay, i mean everything. right down to the nuts and bolts. i bought some items from him a few months ago. he told me it adds about 800 a week to his pocket and it is just a hobby for him.

I stopped yesterday to check out a couple of junked out F-100s. A 67 6 cyl. auto and a 72 302 3 on the tree. A very nice elderly lady owned them and buttonholed me into a two hour tour of her home. It seems her son had wrecked the 72, which they had bought new and her husband bought the 67 for body parts then got killed a year or so ago. I could get them for little or nothing but it is about an hour from my house and it would take a day to get them home. Both are long bed cutstoms. There is no straight grills, no good dash pads, no auxillery tanks, no power steering or brakes. The 302 was rebuilt but is now stuck as the front clips are off both pickups. The only straight hood has the typical rusty scale on the inner front. Both cabs seem to have solid looking cab mounts but the 72 has the rusty drip rails. Some of the side trim is missing off the 67. Well anyway I am trying to decide if I want these two hulks at my property. I can't drag them to my house.
On the brighter side she also had a really straight 62 F-500 dump truck. It had decent rubber and her kids had started it up just a month ago. She had promised it to some neighbor who would give her $500 if it ran. I told her that I would pay more than that and take a chance. By the time I left I had her thinking and she gave me her number. I have to wonder if the pickups are worth it. We get a lot of surface rust here due to the humidity and both of these have their share. I may try to just take the 67 and a few pieces of the 72. I would like to have the steering column, bellhousing and flywheel to put the 289/T-85 in my 64 car. And the 302 engine towers. Any suggestions?
