Dana70hd full float spindle nut torque

Does anyone happen to know the correct procedure and torque for the spindle nut on the rear hub of a 2004 E-350 SD full float Dana70HD axle with dually's?

I have researched it but i find at least three different procedures each one being different from the others.

One says torque to 60 ft lbs and then back the nut off 7 clicks for new bearings or 5 clicks for old bearings. Another says torque to 70 lb ft and then back the nut off a full turn and then torque to 18 ft lbs.

Anyone have a shop manual they might have time to look it up for me please?

Have you contacted Dana themselves with your axle ID or info for their recommendation?

Well actually no i havent. I kinda thought when i signed up on a ford truck forum with thousands of members helping each other that it would be easier to just ask if anyone had a 2004 shop manual and could possibly share the correct procedure and torque. Sadly im finding thats not the case anymore with alot of the forums today, so much so in fact i will likely just spend the money and buy the entire collection of ford shop manuals for the E-350 econolines and be be done with trying to use social media as a tool for sharing information. There are still a handful of useful forums out there, but for the most part the majority are not unlike pissing into the wind.

When I first learned actual factory manuals could be purchased online through eBay etc I immediately started my own library knowing there would be times P2P sharing of such information would not be reliable---as your lament demonstrates that's been the case.

Another factor for me is the timeliness of needed information. Having to wait for a forum reply it might be inconvenient but if I have the same information in my possession theoretically I have zero time lag. Sadly forums are losing their influence and impact on DIY repairs, nothing like it was back in 2010 when I joined FTE.

Its been my experience that FTE isnt the only forum suffering from a lack of community. There is another forum that i spent years on as a member and its all but completely dead at this point. I downloaded the entire website so i could keep all of the valuable information that was shared in the past just in case the forum owner decides its no longer worth paying for server space to maintain.

^^^Agreed 100%---I've seen the changes here and in other somewhat ad hoc smaller forums---hell even Faceplace is losing its place across the interwebs!

I looked all over my manuals for the actual Ford procedure (to no avail)
You will need to go back to when those ratchet nuts came out 1987-1990 with the 10.25 Sterling
All Data will have it
I have read it, it is vague, basically like any other wheel bearing where you seat the bearings and back it off, then add .010" crush
So yours, they have you torquing it to 70 then backing off a few clicks then re torquing to get the crush correct
While the axle is out it is easy to rotate the hub and make sure you have zero clearance when doing the final torque

I appreciate your efforts. However my truck is a 2004 and it doesnt have a sterling axle, it has a Dana 70 HD. It makes no sense to look up a procedure for a truck thats 10 years or more older than what mine is because it likely didnt use the same size bearings.

I know that you have a 70 and not a 10.25
The wheel bearing nut has the same procedure
