My 1990 Ford f250 XLT Lariat with a 5.8-liter engine and automatic transmission appears to be idling too fast when I start it up. It takes a long time to warm up and settle down. Then when I first apply my foot to the gas peddle when in gear, (without revving it up) it hesitates for a second and usually stalls. Once I am on the road, I can keep it going if I don't let it fall back to idle speed or come to a full stop. To avoid that I have to use both feet, one for the brake and one for the gas to keep it idling a little higher, before taking off from a full stop. I did remove the IAC valve to clean it, but it still continues to act up. Since I only drive it during the summer months for about 1500 miles to my cabin and back it has fairly low mileage and a very clean engine. The rest of the year I store it on my driveway, starting it up every couple of weeks. Any ideas what may be causing this to happen, and how to fix it? thanks
