Swapping to a bigger engine

For the expense of an engine upgrade and your intended use I think if it's a 2WD truck you would be better off keeping the 302 and changing your rear axle ratio, You're probably running 3.54's which are not "tow friendly" when using a 302. Swap to ether 4.10's or 4.30's if you can get them. Cheapest way is to swap complete rear end. You'll be surprised how that 302 will pull with some 4.10/4.30 gears. I've pulled 6000# behind the F150 in signature and it did a great job for me.

It's 4WD, I really do need to go look at what the axle code is on the inside of my door to see what gears are on my truck. I'll try to do that today.
