Hello all. New to the forum. I have a 89 f250 with a 351w in it with the C6 auto tranny for reference. It is a not ac truck and I am adding a under the dash ac unit, I’m in search of the right aftermarket ac compressor bracket and wanted to see if any of y’all had info to help me. Here is a picture of the current setup, single groove pulley on the water pump and does have power steering. The compressor is a standard 508 Sanden. Thank y’all in advance for any help.
HEI distributor...did it replace the Duraspark or was this a TFI truck?
I have never seen a small block that late with V belts. Are you sure it is an 89?
That’s what I was thinking. An ‘89 would have been fuel injected with a serpentine belt. There would have been an idler pulley in place of the compressor. This truck appears to be carbureted with a GM style distributor. The last factory carbureted 351W was in ‘87.
Apologize, probably should have led with that info too….new to forums.
The truck is a 89. It originally had a 302 efi 5 speed manual setup. At some point someone swapped in the 351 and the c6. It’s a good running truck but has been a chore figuring out all that has been changed. As is it is a 351 with a 4bbl Holley carb setup and a Jegs Ignition system installed on it.
Wonder why someone dumped the manual for a non lock trans. Gotta love hacks.
serp belt setup will need a reverse rotation water pump. Ive done this swap years back. Can just buy a " normal " water pump for a 89 with a 351W as said here already that your should have have a serp belt set up already. See if you can find a power steering pump with a good pulley in a junk yard as that will need swapped as well. ... Just the pulley as long as your pump is good. most auto parts stores have a free to use pulley puller. Where are you located? I might be able to set you up with bracket set, and pulleys.... If your close I can look around and see if that's possible.
