This project is down the road, but I am considering installing an underdash air conditioner. My engine is the 312 Y Block I know the system will require an alternator, to handle the extra load. I’ve gone to a dual exhaust got read on the cross over exhaust. This is 1955 F-100. Any body else done the under dash air?
For a 312 what about AC bracket-- Modern AC compressor--pulley set-up-- not stock water pump-- wiring, Trinary switch, condenser-- electric fan, correct fan shroud, 3 row Aluminum radiator-, updated wiring harness and modern fuse panel-- lot of parts need to install on a OLD original 312 ?-- Good luck
Hey that looks great. Like I said I might be sweating for a while. I've got the old cast iron compressor they used back in the day. And I invested in a few parts. My compressor bracket and generator attach with my add on fly wheel to a 3 belt. Had my stock radiator rebuilt to 4 core. Might have to go with an electric cooling fan. I was planing on the Mustang under dash unit. Arm strong steering. With three on the tree. Still have my cowl vent. Seen another F-100. a 1953 had the air unit under the bench seat rider side. Kinda liked that. Preset control to turn the compressor on and off. AJ
