Question Total Weight +MPG

OK tried this over in the Excursion category, will try it here….received 38 “looks” no answers

What is your total weight of trailer and Exc/250/350 rolling down the road?
Traveling at NORMAL posted speeds, what is you mileage? If not normal speed, please explain 10 mph can and will make a difference.
Just assembling some data points. Two easy questions and looking forward to a large number of responses.

Thanks
Tim

My truck and trailer weigh about 16.5k. My truck, trailer, and second towed rig is right at 21k. Problem with it is, fuel mileage varies by terrain. My truck will pull all three over the mtn passes at whatever speed I set, usually 70mph. But while climbing the pass, fuel mileage is probalby in the 2-4 mpg range. So I tend to average about 7-10 loaded. maybe a little more when just the first trailer is attached. I do believe I could get better mileage if I wasn't so vain as to want show off the power and pass all the other drivers that are afraid I will impede there progress up the pass.

We pulled about 2,000# + F350 truck weight (don't know that off hand) from Nebraska to Alaska and averaged 12-15mpg.
Speeds ranged between states and Canada, approx. 55mph to 75mph. I think we have exacts for each state, but not with me. Hope this helps.

I tow a 10,000+ lbs Toyhauler (non-5th wheel) and mileage varies with speed and terrain and wind speed/direction.

With the truck and trailer combination right at 18,000 lbs I averaged 8.9 mpg for a 4,500 mile loop from San Diego, CA to Omaha and back via Denver and Dallas. My speed varied depending upon the state and road and wind conditions.

From SD to Denver I was doing between 60 and 68 MPH and averaged nearly 10 MPG. As I increased speed to 70 to 75 MPH between Denver, Omaha, to Dallas and back to SD the mileage dropped down to the high 7s at times.

Understand about pulling a hill faster at the top then at the bottom…. ha-ha.
Part of owning these things…………..is vain.
Thanks great data point.

This is tremendous because of the distance you pulled, possibly the best data point to date for this particular total weight. This helps a bunch!

This is obviously a TAG trailer, how tall and how wide is your trailer. Probably has a bit of a large frontal area. This info is great because of the distance pulled.
Thanks.
