Fuel Tank Replacement
I need some advice on what fuel tank I need to get for my 1978 F-350 dual rear wheels, 460 motor, auto transmission, and dump box. The bottom of the present has several small pin holes and another area about 4" in diameter that is rusted and appears to be really thin.
I assume that this truck was originally shipped as a chassis /cab unit, and the dump box was added after purchase. I have looked at several fuel tank sources on the web but none of them say anything specific about fuel tanks for the chassis /cab models, and only make refference to pickup, and crew cab models in the F-350 models.
They also refer to models that have E.E.C, and those without E.E.C. How do I know if I have E.E.C., and what would the difference be.
The present tank is mounted on the drivers side inside the frame rail, with approx half of the tank under the cab, and the other half under the dump box. The filler tube and cap are located between the back of the cab and the dump box on the drivers side.
I would very much appreciate any advice on which fuel tank I need, and possibly where I can obtain one at a reasonable price.........Thanks,
Pat
Thanks for the reply. I went out and looked under the truck and could not find any evidence that there had ever been a fuel tank mounted on the passenger side of this truck. No brackets, bolts, blocked off lines, etc. There is no auxillary switch in the cab, or anywhere that one might have been mounted.
Can anyone tell me what my options are as far as getting any type of fuel tank that would allow temporary use of the truck. I can get by without the sending unit/gas gauge working if need be..........thanks again
My front tank on my F250 is exactly as you describe, if you order a tank to fit that application it may fit.
