Another High Point Solution

I recently bought a 2013 F150 that appears to be garage kept so I wanted to make sure I looked at the high point brake light and "improved" the gasket if needed. The gasket is in good shape for 10 yrs with the side that touches the housing still tacky. The side that touches the cab however, is sort of dried out and wasn't tacky at all. I took some cell phone sealing tape maybe 0.005" thick and very sticky and put two strips on the gasket. It stuck to the gasket just fine and I think it will seal if the gasket packs it in. It's thin enough to not distort the gasket and sticky enough that when I replaced the fixture it wouldn't wallow around because it was stuck. Anyway here is a pic. They sell 3 sizes, 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm wide and it comes with tweezers to get the backing off of both sides.
On my Ranger I just used rope caulk. I works like a dream and stays soft for a long time. I might go that route here if I have problems with the tape.
