I'm typically found dealing with the E-Series but being in the windshield replacement business I deal with the occasional F-Series, this time out a 2005 F-650 on a dump truck chassis, gasoline engine. Owner submitted this truck to his service garage (my customer) for an issue where during wet weather occasionally it has to be "stalled out" in order to shut the engine down, key cylinder/ignition switch won't do the job. Owner insists its PCM related due water leakage under the dash.
During the w/s replacement I noticed the ignition key cylinder quite sloppy which leads me to suspect the column, key cylinder and possibly the ignition switch are at the root of this and will advise a more thorough inspection of the entire column---there was simply not enough evidence of a leaking w/s nor the cab mounting running lights on top of the cab.
Any ideas or thoughts about the PCM being affected by water and causing this occasional problem?
That was pretty much my same idea after spending some time inside the cab and accidentally bumping into the key switch. I'll advise the my customer and truck owner this needs to be checked and repaired as necessary. Should be a fairly easy repair having done this on my own vehicles.
