I have a CD-6 that came out of a 2003 mustang. I'm trying to install it into a 2003 Windstar. I have the wiring harness and have wired it correctly. There is no bass. What can I do to fix this? Can I fix this? Any aftermarket fixes?
There is a crossover in the cd-6 audiophile unit (i presume you have the audiophile unit). This crossover filters out any lows and send highs and mids only to the speakers. It does this because it is supposed to be used with a sub.
The only way to fix this is to buy a wiring harness and connect a sub into the unit itself (was there an unused portion on the back of your unit?) (tapping a speaker wire will not fix the problem because of the internal crossover).
The factory sub also came with its own amp. What I am going to do is install a small bazoka sub (which has its own internal amp thereby replicating the factory setup).
If you wire in a bazooka amp into the CD-6 unit (using the harness) then the system should work
the reason for the sub is in the mustangs with teh 460 has four subs. the two in the door and two in the rear deck. they from a low mid bass to low bass.
