I picked up a 97 a couple months ago. Previous owners have done 180/30 injectors, replaced pass side valve cover gasket, irate e fuel, 38 gal tank, hydra tuner, and a thing or two more. Injectors, tank, fuel system, gasket were done 25-30k miles ago. Also, looks like the idm was replaced at some point, but don’t know when.
Ran great for a few weeks then died on me a mile down the road. Replaced the cps and icp to get it to limp home. Looks like they were both done already. Started doing some digging online and tried the ipr valve and the driver side valve cover gasket. Still not running right. My fuel pump died at some point. Contacted irate diesel to get a new one and put new filters in too. I don’t have forscan or a legit scan tool. I hooked up an obd2 scanner I had laying around and won’t give me any codes with the check engine light on. I’m at the point where I’m probably just going to take it to a diesel shop and have them look at it. (Tried one shop, but apparently they don’t work on early 99 and older 7.3 for some reason).

How full is the tank? U didn't go below a 1/4 of a tank recently?
l have had over half a tank since the issues started. It also has the e fuel and bigger tank with the sump on it. I’m getting 65psi of fuel pressure. I talked directly to the guys over at irate diesel and that’s what pressure he recommended
I would never rely on what a previous owner did. Unless you for sure know. Where did the injectors come from? Did they use genuine injector orings? Genuine Motorcraft UVCH? IS the IPR, CPS, ICP all genuine Motorcraft? Need to know if the HPOP is making required pressure.

have paperwork from a reputable shop about the injectors. They’re the full force diesel 180/30. Cps and icp I just purchased and replaced from ford. Ipr is not from ford. Don’t have a way to know about the hpop at this moment. Looks like I’m just gonna have to take it in and have it diagnosed at this point and quit wasting money. Depending on what it is, either I or the shop will fix the issue. Thanks for looking out
I know folks on here do not prefer the full force diesel injectors. I was going to get them but after comments from here, I decided on Bitteroot. Full force is little more reasonably priced though.

unfortunately I didn’t have a say in what they put it. I was looking at them previously due to price point. If they’re the issue, gonna be super bummed, but I guess who doesn’t love an upgrade?
They usually have driveability issues but they usually work well enough that it will run.
I would get an OBD dongle and monitor the truck. It should provide plenty of data to find the culprit. I would be looking at the IPR, but data will be the best way to figure it out. It is really cheap and easy to do

It costs us more to build a quality injector when we use new parts where the other builders use reman parts and call them new.
