My tool box works well for me, but the locks on it both sides have to be locked individually.
So I was thinking about how nice it would be if they were power locks that activated with the door locks like the tailgate does.
Has anyone done this or is it even possible to tie an accessory circuit into the door locks?
I tried a search but didn't get anything.
There was a thread on this a while back. I don't remember what the final result was but I think that another member suggested doing a separate lock/remote for the box.
I have a 2013 f150 KR, I had my local leonard buildings shop install a leer hard cover.
When they did they tapped into a wire under drivers door seal and ran a wire back to cover lock and it operates with my key fob.
This may help.
I am not sure what toolbox you have, but I have the American Work Truck cover and I did this. Assuming you have power actuators in the toolbox, you can connect them to the power lock wires under the passenger side sile plate cover. There is another post if you search for it from a guy who did it and based on this description, and a little messaging back and forth I was able to figure it out also. There is another post showing the pass through wires that go through the firewall from behind the passenger side kickplate, to under the relay terminal box for the up-fitter switches in the engine bay. I used a heat GUN like suggested in that post to remove the sheathing binding the wires. It worked like a champ. You can use two of these wires, or you could drill your own hole and snake a wire in yourself. Your choice. It is great having the tool box lock and unlock with the remote. BTW, I have a 2022, F350 Dually Platinum.
Thanks, I have the Buyers 27" box. There is not any electric locks on it. But I was sure that could be figured out if the electric could be tied in to the existing locks.
