Heh, heh... well, I wouldn't call it 24 hours of LeMans or anything... but I just got back hauling a 14' box cargo trailer 1,000 miles to Denver and back again. Here are some musings, in no particular order:
drove non-stop each way, stopping only for refills of premium gas
change in elevation: started at 600 ft above sea level (ASL), ended at 5,200 ft ASL (reverse for the way home, obviously)
cargo trailer was loaded and about 4,000 lbs going up, and about 1,600 lbs on the return
speed control set at 65 MPH both ways to prevent ChiCom-made tires and axle bearings from returning to their elemental particles
12.1 MPG going to Denver / 10.1 MPG coming back (very weird)
BlueCruise doesn't work when a trailer is hitched up to your truck
ActiveSense massaging seats are the reason I can stand and walk ; )
No discernible engine oil consumption
Transmission worked flawlessly, except for a few hesitations and harsh shifts in/out of 6th gear. Otherwise, no complaints.
Wondering if Ford has active noise cancelation integrated into the stereo. During one stint of driving, the cabin suddenly got quiet. Really quiet. And it wasn't a change in road surface or conditions or pressure change in my ears. Really strange. It was like noise canceling suddenly turned on. Never heard that before. But it was pretty nice.
