Thermostat

Last summer I developed a radiator leak 1/3 of the way across a dirt road pass in CO. There was no way to turn around so by the time I had gained the pass the temp gauge on the dash was pegged red.

However I have an exhaust temp gauge I installed and it never got above 950 F as we idled down the pass.

Now my dash gauge will not budge much above cold. Is my thermostat fried? Am I damaging the engine? Everything else is fine but not getting much heat in the cab.

Thanks in advance for your helpful feedback.

Sounds like the thermostat is hung full open now. I dont believe EGT's and engine temp coolant wise relate to each other by any stretch as in your case.
