Rear Wiper

99 Expy has just lost the ability to use my rear wiper. I pulled it cleaned the contacts put it all back together. It worked just fine for about three weeks. It's about to be winter here in Ga. that just means it going to rain. Has anyone else had this problem?

The switch on the steering column is notorious for malfunctioning, so your prob might be there.

I had to change the wiper motor. I forget the cost. I think it was around $80.00 but not sure.

Assuming you checked the fuse, I also will vote for the wiper motor.

Turn the switch on, then try to move the wiper arm by hand. It may buy you a little time.

Sometimes mine will not work . I found so far I can get it to start again by opening the hatch and closing it again. It seems that if I try and ease the hatch closed the wiper wont work so I try and let it close a little hard.

Who ever finds the root of this problem, please post it.
I put a new multifuntion switch on mine, but that was not it.

This is common. It seems as if the nut holding the wiper on becomes faulty with motion, but this is intermitent. It is not any switches or anything electronic, just bad engineering of moving parts. Get a wrench and tighten the nut under the plastic cover on the wipoer. Make sure you hatch is closed, start the wiper and jiggle it. Doing this a few times will start it again, but who knows for how long.
