stock spring capacity?

Looking for quality stock replacement springs, are husky or dormans any good? Do not want to go the junkyard route. According to the tech folder the stock front leaves for diesel excursion are D codes with a capacity of 2350lbs each or 4700lbs total. However all the spring vendors including authorized ford parts sellers give 1980lbs capacity for stock leaves. Which is correct? I supposed there is a difference in how its being calculated.

Spring rate of 380lbs per in at 5.14in max travel is gives a load of 1953lbs. So where does the 2350lbs come from? Can anyone clarify?

Aftermarket spring mfgs do not make a separate spring for each engine variant of the excursion. In fact I don’t think anyone actually makes a Excursion specific spring, they just use a superduty spring.

As for authorized parts sellers. Are you talking about actual ford dealers parts counter or the local Autozone that sells some motorcraft stuff ?

fwiw, Almost certain ford discontinued offering all the original spring codes for the excursion 5 years ago.
