Am I missing something here, is this not the most obvious and extremely annoying software oversight?
Obviously, there's the MyView situation where it always defaults to the menu and you have to click and scroll back through.
However, the latest irritation I just discovered is when you flip to Tow/Haul mode, and you get about 2 seconds to hit 'menu' to setup the secondary information screen and set up your gauges/whatever (which for me has its own bug; can't select trailer information, the first and most obvious item, without first selecting something else and then going back to it) - Only to have that all reset if you stop/start the truck. Then it's start the process all over. And occasionally I've found if I hit 'menu' too early, it seems to freeze that section of the dash as it goes blank and can't do anything until a stop/start is done.
What in the world Ford, did not a single person actually go out and use this before sending it off to production? They must be getting some complaints as I found this under 'Technical service info' online:
SSM 51593 2023 F-Super Duty - Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Reverts To Home Screen At Start Up
Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit the IPC reverting back to the home screen after the vehicle is shut off and restarted. The last screen viewed by the customer may not be remembered after the ignition is cycled. This is an operating characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed at this time. Use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of OASIS to submit a report if there is a customer concern of IPC operation.
Hopefully at some point in the near future this is resolved OTA.

So, it's "an operating characteristic of the vehicle", but it only affects "some" 2023 SDs? Right.
After having the recall done, my cluster now starts on the last screen. It's great. However, I cannot confirm if this is available through an OTA update. BTW, how are the 23s not subject to the recall or the 24 clusters acting? Are they good to go or also need an update?
Any updates on this? I saw in another thread that there may be an update available, but I haven't seen it confirmed.
Yes, it seems that the latest IPC software fixes this (along with adding a few things). As of right now I don't believe there is an OTA update that handles this.
There appears to be two routes to getting this done. First off there is a recall (#23C25/23V506) on the instrument panel (appears to actually be for the control module, not the screen) that affected job 1 '23 trucks. When this recall is done it will include the latest software. Second, there is a TSB out that specifically addresses this along with a few other things. The fix is to load an update from FRDS, I'm sure it's the same thing, just the latest software update. I noticed one day my mileage was stuck at 0.1 which prompted me to try and get them to perform this, and I'm going in Tuesday AM so I'll report back in this thread if it goes according to plan. At first when I just asked my dealer to do the update they said NO, need to have a reason, but I found the TSB and have all the symptoms so we'll see. You can find it if you log into your Ford.com vehicle dashboard, scroll down to "Technical Service Information" and it's #24-2009 (right now third from the top for me). Or see below:
Just to follow up, had that TSB done and it returns back to the last screen! Have to move trailers around tomorrow, so will be anxious to see if that returns everything to last used setting as well.

That’s great news! I’m scheduled to go in on the 8th
My truck's build date doesn't appear to fall under TSB 23C25/23V506. The truck was invoiced 7/27/23 so wasn't built until sometime after that date. But it also has not updated via FordPass OTA as SSM 51679 says it should for the same issue. No compass being displayed and the truck always returns to MyView when restarted, not the MPG screen that I always have in front of me.
I've seen reports on this forum about PowerUp being in the 5.3.x version and my truck showed yesterday that it just updated to 5.1.1.

I don't see anything in that TSB excluding a certain date range. I'd go to the dealer and tell them your complaint is all three of the symptoms listed in the TSB and have them note the TSB number also and see if they will do it. My truck was on 5.3.1 already (still is).

As I stated in another post, part of my problem is unfamiliarity with this new truck. I do have a compass, it's just located on the right of the screen in the small Navigation window. Haven't had navigation in 4 or so years so it's something I overlooked.
I eliminated several options from the MyView screen. So now I'm pretty much at one touch of a steering wheel button to get the fuel economy screen, which is always the last screen used by me. I'll live with such minor inconvenience for now. And today while I was out and about in the truck it updated PowerUp to 5.2.2 on it's own.
The screenshot below came from this link: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Ford/23C25 That's where I got the build date information.
I am researching if this is something ForScan can accomplish or if it is an IDS thing only.
If someone has had it done please PM me.
Thanks
ZooDad
I am curious on this as well. It would be nice to have this update done with Forscan vs bringing it into the dealer. I haven’t taken mine in for the TSB/update. Hopefully someone who had it done can get you that info.
