When towing 16K up mountain grades in 8th gear the fan kicked on this weekend and it roared to life!
Are the Ford fans that loud...trans temp was 225.
I had it kick on once on the way out to Peoria, and once coming back. (Going through West Virginia) It actually scared me, as it sounded as if the engine were revving extremely high! Crazy how loud it is!! Never heard anything like it before in my previous PSD's...2005, 2015, and 2022. But the 2023 F-450 sure did get my attention!!

Ok seems like this is normal behavior....my wife looked at me when it kicked on and said WTF 😅 😳 🙃
The fan comes on at different percentages of lockup depending on many factors, at lower percentages you don't hear it, higher percentages they roar.
I don't imagine the roaring fan lasted a long time, right?

no, not very long, came on maybe 3 times at different intensity....
9% grade in 8th doing 55-60 so I imagine it was doing its thing. Just louder than any other trucks I have owned pulling that smae grade.

Yes they are!! Mine kicked on towing in 20* weather and I thought it was insanely loud, gotten used to it now, but the first time I let off the throttle and slowed down like wth?!
then you weren't working the truck right... it was louder than the radio!!
Yeah, my camper is only 6000 lbs and we are usually around 15k total. Still a big wind sail though... but the fan has never been that loud... even when doing a regen.

Yeah, me too! It came on with such a loud whine, that it truly sounds like the engine revving , not a fan turning on. I kicked off the cruise control and was on the brakes slowing down, wondering why there was no decrease with decrease in rpm, so I figured it was the fan that I heard someone post about a while ago. It's ridiculously loud!
Those fans are music to my ears. It means I am using my truck to the full potential and am getting my money’s worth.
I am known to actually push it harder then I need to when climbing a hill and try to make it kick on.

My 2022 f450 fan screams non stop when towing my 30-32k trailer. Flat ground or hills when it's 80+ outside. Sounds like a jet taking off.
when towing 24k it comes on every so often on a large grade.
