I am replacing all siding on house and with it all external light fixtures. I have all the spot lights covered, but I had a large 500W Halogen flood mounted at top of gable over garage that was super bright and did a great job lighting up driveway / basketball court. It's a rather large cast aluminum affair with an 8 x 8" clear tempered glass lens. I'd like to find something equally bright but 38 years newer and naturally more energy efficient.
Part of my search frustration is most of them come with a dusk to dawn mode and my neighbors would shoot me(or it) if I did that. Just need a simple light, controlled by a simple wall switch, that can be seen from the space station, for a reasonable price, lol.

Could he not just hook it in on his currently switched circuit without covering anything. The only time it'd be used, it's dark out anyway, no?
Should it come about he want's it on/off during twilight when there's just barely enough light to prevent/allow it's operation, blacking the sensor out takes away the auto operation aspect.
