I changed my headlamps to LED. I've done this on my last two trucks and it's been great.
For the first time this week, one led bulb went out. Driver's side top. I drove the truck tonight (first time at Nighy this week) and noticed that the brightness seemed very dim. Like on the highway I turned the fogs lights on to have better light. Even the brights were dim.
I have a replacement ready to go in, but i have a question.
When one goes out does the truck sense this and dim the rest? Seems like a silly question because i wouldnt think that would happen nor are these lamps dimmable. But who knows what manufacturers build into the computers.
With the failed bulb still plugged in the circuit it could have continued to pull current shy of blowing the fuse causing a dimming effect. But to answer your question as some of these trucks ( Trim level pending) have Auto dimming lights so is there a system in place that could do it yes. Do I think it is likely that it lowers power output when lower power usage is detected ???? Not sold on that . But variables are what trim level do you have ? Do you have auto dimming lights? What brand LED's did you use ? Did you find any heat damage on the connector or wire that was servicing the faulty led.
