Is it possible, after installing new headers, without an exhaust system, an engine would be to lean to start and run more then a few seconds, I’ve reset the distributor numerous times now and it just won’t run for more then a few seconds and when it does run it isn’t responsive to throttle input . I’ve trouble shot all things in the dizzy that could be checked, (DUI dist.) checked plug wires, firing order, etc, I’m at the point where it’s just going to sit now, I’m about done, I don’t want to spend money on an exhaust if there is something wrong that I need to fix first, it’s a 352 in an f100, EDL2105 intake, Holly 600 carb, DUI dist. With DUI plug wires and Hooker headers

The engine should run fine enough with open headers. It'll really rattle your brain though. I drive a 302 around for about a week that way, back in highschool.
Seems like you might have a fuel delivery or carb problem. What's going on with those? Was everything working not long ago? With the engine off and cool, push the throttle with your thumb while looking down the carb... You should see gas squirting. You might try making it run a few seconds on starting fluid to help determine if you have your timing reasonably situated and if you have a fuel problem. There are many other things to troubleshoot on the fuel/carb stuff.
Sounds like the engine is doing something well enough that I wouldn't consider it a risk to get pipes. Sure would make working on it more comfortable. Unless you were gonna drive it like that to the shop like I did, rather than tow it.
Did you check the balancer?
Which DUI do you have? If it is a Duraspark I would say you have the polarity reversed on the magnetic pickup. If the polarity is reversed, they will start and idle but will not accelerate. Too weak of a signal to the ECU. Other than that, sounds like it is running out of gas.
