Temperature gage

I put a new 195* thermast in 74 with a 351M a 3 core radator and fan shroud and a 7 blade fan not a clutch fan. Timing is right on the money. The carb is jeted right. The temp. gage says strate up, How hot is it? With my son truck it said a bout 1/4 up on the gage. This use to be my truck. And with all this in it.

those guages aren't all that accurate, more of an advanced idiot light
if you really want to know try sticking a thermometer in the radiator

At operating temp, my guage is always straight up. It's a '73 390 with 195* t-stat and new 3 core rad - never have overheating problems. As stated, if you are in doubt, check water temp with thermometer - a local shop will check it cheap.

Are the other guages reading high too?
