So, we have a famous singer who has over the last couple of years put on considerable weight. Now she goes out, has a little (okay, ALOT) too much to drink and gets stopped for DUI. Do I feel sorry for her? No. I do feel some pity for her, however. Have any of you seen her mugshot? Ten years from now nobody is going to remember anything about her DUI- except that mugshot!
Now, the thing that torques me is not the fact that she got a DUI, but the fact that she will do no time in jail, her fines will, in all likelyhood, be dropped and she won't lose her license in return for a few Public Service Announcements! It just doesn't seem fair that the rich and spoiled in the world get off easy and the working guy who gets a DUI gets the hammer! I am not advocating drunk driving in any way, just the unfairness of the penalties imposed. Rumor has it that she blew .175%. That's over twice the legal limit in many states. It'll be interesting to see this unfold...
The truly sad part is, this will probably ENHANCE her career as a C/W singer. "Hey, she drinks just like I do! She's an all-right girl!" Now, if she had made a disparaging remark about our president and his Texas roots, well, that would be a WHOLE different story!
