I have a 2022 F350 that I tow with a lot. I put the truck in tow haul mode when I have the trailer 60-70% of the time when I'm showing up to a stop sign or light it BANG! downshifts really hard not metal on metal but really hard. What can I or should I do about it I don't know tranny's much but I can't imagine its good on the truck.
Very common issue with the 10 speed trucks, mine does it occasionally, but not every time, and I don't use tow/haul when towing.
I haven't heard of any fix, usually just called normal by Ford.
I have had it happen with a really heavy load and a very steep incline but not any other time. I was very aggressive and contributed it to the straegy with the conditions I was in.
Perhaps the dealer can see if there is a update avail for the trans that may help.

Another forum member reports similar problems. As I recall, it took a couple of visits to the dealer and they eventually found metal in the fluid. A new transmission was the result. Unfortunately, there was no reason given for the bang.

There is a TSB for downshifting in tow/haul mode. Just do some searching on here, you'll find it. I don't know the number off the top of my head.
My truck has been pretty bad about the bang when downshifting since new. I finally had a successful trip to the dealer for a reprogram. I need to pull out my ticket to see if they listed the TSB number but as soon as I got the truck back last week I put 600 miles or so on it pulling a 30' gooseneck in tow-haul and exhaust brake on and not one single hard downshift so far.
Of course I had a DEF fault alarm come in with a full tank of DEF on the trip but that is for a different thread...
My work truck, 6.7 22 built December 21 has the same issue, 3/2 shift, engine brake on or off. Truck has 86,000 miles, guess I”ll find out if the TSB update is free or not.
The TSB is free. Its crazy seeing so many people talking about this like it's a new issue when there have been numerous threads already discussing the 3-1 downshift in the diesels acting like this and the fix is an adaptive relearn via TSB. This TSB has been around for a year or more. The longer you drive it like that the more potential damage you could be doing to your transmission.

Well, according to the tsb, it is not just a relearn, it is a new programming download that results in a new relearn being required.
Also, tsb reads as free if still under warranty.

Reprogram/relearn doesn't matter. There has been a TSB out for quite some time.. Why would you wait until your warranty is expired. The 10spd has only been out 3 years. Most people experiencing this have low miles.
