I put a new alternator on my 82 bronco, and there is one white wire that is not connected to anything. Is it supposed to be like that? 300 inline 6. also how can I tell if a fusible link is bad?
Not sure about the white wire. The diagram only shows a white/black, black/orange, and an orange/lt. blue. Not even a white wire on the voltage regulator.
Fusible links can be tested for continuity with a meter (ohm or continuity setting on a multimeter). Using the probes and a pair of straight pins pushed through the insulation on the wire on either side of the link, touch one probe to each pin. The continuity setting should make the meter sound. The ohm setting should yield zero ohms. If not, then the link has blown.
