Was there ever a 1966 Ranger Trim Option on the F series? Years ago at a car show, I saw a '66 F-100 Ranger with bucket seats, console, and lots of vinyl and chrome interior trim. I have never heard of or seen one since. Was this a one custom or a factory option?

We've chewed this query over pretty good before. The answer is: YES! FoMoCo did offer a ranger trim package for F Series in 1966. It was the 1st year for it.
It was just as as you recall, Buckets, carpeted floor, backwall [over fuel tank] soft interior door panels w/ map pocket, center console [which I'm convinced is/was same one as 63 1/2-4 & 5 Falcon Sprint used.
The seats were same as 66 Bronco, & Mustang. To mount seats all it takes is set [of 4] Bronco seat tracks, they're what "Henry" used when he built 66 Rangers.
I mentioned a glove box lock awhile back. Glove box locks I have seen came in a 66 F100 SWB Ranger package & Top Of the Line Custom Cab Trim package.
FoMoCo also built & sold a limited number of 390CID Powered F100's in 66. It used 335/ 390CID FE engine with a single holley 750 4V carb on medium rise intake. These 390 equipped trucks don't show up in advertisements or service manuals for 66, none the less the do exist.
FBp .
I have to dissagree with 66 being the first year for the Ranger, I have seen a few 65's out there, even when I was a kid, several years ago, a neighbor had a 65 Ranger, it was the first one I ever had seen. It was Black with Red interior. As I understand Ford didn't keep any records of the Ranger until model year 67, so even they don't know how many they are. While we are on this subject again, I believe there were only 4 color combinations for the Ranger, anybody know for sure?

I stand corrected on that error!. . . . . Thanks Guys, 'preciate it.
I've thought for years 66 was 1st year for a Ranger Packages in F Series. . . . . HMmmn?
Thanks for correct information on it & for keeping me in line too. It's good knowing the "skinny", not so good learning I'm wrong
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .again! Oh Well . . . . . . ! ! !
I learned most of what little I know by being wrong, or doing it wrong, then being corrected by folks who know better or more. FBp
Pete, till I'd seen that ad I always thought 66 was the year too. I have sure never SEEN a 64. Would be interesting to know how many they actually made, huh?

Looks like the 64 Ranger used the seats and console from a 63 Falcon. The console is all metal with the ribbed, chrome lid and the seats appear more padded than the Mustang seats.I have seen the 66 Ranger interior, the seats appear to be Mustang and the console is 64 / 65 Falcon style, plastic body with a soft, padded lid. Have to agree with FORDBOYpete. Just when you think you know something about something you find out how little you do know. I have owned too many F-series trucks and Falcons to count, since 1968. The only thing I know for sure about these rigs is nothing is certain. Anyone out there ever seen or owned a 64 Ranger?
