Hello all, I am searching for info on frames. I have a 64 crew, I have a 1987 frame, and a 2001 powerstroke engine and trans. The question I have is the 1987 frame and the 2001 powerstroke the same? I am trying to figure out if the motor mounts and front crossmember are the same. The rest of the frame isn't a concern to me.
I think the '87 xmember will be WAY different. If F250 it was TTB and the pivot brackets mounted to that. If F350 it's still pretty large and similar to the TTB xmember. I also don't remember if the OBS F350 track bar mounted to the xmember or the frame rail.....
Everything I've ever read about PS swaps is the physical swap isn't usually an issue, it's making sure you have all the harnesses, computers and dash components so it runs. Most of the swaps I saw, people were swapping the whole dash from the PS donor into the older trucks to make it work.

That's also what I've seen, or at least the instrument cluster
There was a bunch of research done on the harness for this project. I found a guy that will build a stand alone harness with the idm and the pcm. Takes all the garbage out and runs the bare minimum. He has this set up in a 64 truck and is running a crown vic frame. Smokes the tires a long way. He is chipped and has 6 settings. Bad ***!
Here's a project that I bought from a fella that was storing this truck. He sold the truck with storage fees that accumulated over time and I jumped on it. A friend of mine did the work and some of it needs attention, It is a nice start. 7.3 idi with a turbo. It sits on a 86 frame
I got the 1987 frame to fit a 2001 powerstroke in a 64 crewcab. All just mock up but the engine is in there. Still need to do frame work, modify the firewall ect.
