My mechanic and I can not seem to find out what's causing my steering wheel to stick after it sits for a few hours. The first initial turn after starting it up feels like the tires are frozen to the ground then it let's loose. Nothing crazy hard to get it free but non the less it's annoying. Doesn't matter if it's cold or warm it does it every morning. I have a 22 7.3 with a level lift and 20x9+1 offset with 35x12.5x20 tires if that makes a difference. Anyone experienced this. Have Multiple posts on Facebook and no one has heard of this. Started a month ago not getting any worse or better. Thanks in advance
Really long stories but 3 different dealers have messed up multiple vehicles of mine under warranty work. I'd rather pay a trusted guy to do it right then the hassle of these dealers that have some of the worst mechanics around. Just ny experiences. Both my wife's explorer 2019 and last two trucks havnt been to the dealer except when I picked them up.

Can't blame you there. Does it have adaptive steering? Did it start when you had the lift/wheels/tires put on or after?
No adaptive steering. Had the lift and tires on since 500 miles. Now has 11k and started 3 weeks ago when it got really cold out so I thought it had something to do with it but now in the 50s and it still does it every morning or if it sits for a few hours. I've tried to let it warm up for 5 mins 10 mins it doesn't help. That first Initial turn its gummed up for a little turn then let's loose and doesn't do it again unless it sits
I've had similar experience in the past. What happens if you rasie the RPM a bit before turning the wheel?
I've experienced it with diesel trucks that have been used with snowplows attached. It would be very occasional and never really paid to much attention. (I believe a different power steering pump.) One of my tech buddies believes as the pump cools down. It sucks some air into system. I don't know. I've never really pursued it because it was so infrequent.
