How do you plan to retain the pinion preload after replacing the pinion seal?

Neg on pinion seal, need to measure rotational torque.

You are 100% sure the AOD hits OD and has a lockup converter?

I don’t know about the lock up converter. But I drove it in the first D it went 1500rpm on the overdrive. And I shifted it to the second D without overdrive and it was 2200 rpm sand both of these were going 45mph. How do I tell lockup converter?
I have to change the pinion seal anyways. So that’s getting done, it leaks.

When you take the cover off, look for the stamping on the ring gear to determine what gear ratio is actually in there.

I agree with the others about keeping the 4.10 ratio.

My 95 F150 came with the OEM 3L55 8.8 axles. I had them changed to 4.10's and have never regretted it. I do run 10.50/33's on stock 7" aluminum rims and OEM springs. Had to trim 1/2" from front bumper though.

Is this accurate? It seems like a well put together video. It’s on a Chevy instead of a ford so im not sure if it’s the same process.

Same process. My only suggestion is do not remove the driveshaft from the transmission. Move it off to the side while keeping it connected to the transmission. Some wire to hold it up out of the way is a good idea.

There is no separate converter lockup with the AOD it shifts 3 times up or down and that is it. This is because of the way the concentric input shafts are utilized.. the inner shaft drives 1st & 2nd through the converter while 3rd and 4th are direct drive via the converter body. This is also why there is such a big RPM drop going into 3rd.. not only does the gear ratio change but converter slip is lost at the same time.
