Common Bronco Problems...

I'm looking into getting rid of the F-250 for a Bronco. Preferably 92-94.
Just wondering about common Bronco troubles. I know about the tailgate rusting and window troubles, but what (if any) other problems are Broncos known for?
Anything different than the F-series trucks?

Thanks.

They are often guilty of making their owners never turn back to a different model. Otherwise, the same generic problems that you would get with an equivalent F-series.

I know of two.

The back window (which you know about), and top leaks in the "B" pillar area.

Common Problems

Mine has cracks in the "B" pillar, I beleive it is a design fault. Also winsors are renowned for the manifolds cracking.

The only leaks I have had on 1 of my former 3 Broncos was at the seam in the "B" pillar and this was because the previous owner would drive around in summer with the cap off which I feel allowed too much body flex.

The other 2 never had a problem and I know that the caps were never off either of those. Just my personal observation.

I found that the rear window problem is in the motor(at least on 2 of mine). The motors have a bi-metallic switch internally to protect them. The motors can be disassembled-the switch is on what would be considered the brush cap-and can be zip-tied closed. Reassemble the motor and test. This worked on both of mine until I got rid of the trucks and through many operations of the rear window.

Yeah I read about the B pillar leak in an ad.
So anyone who has leaks in this area, have you had the top off?
Or for anyone who hasn't had the top off, have you had any leaks?
How bad?

Whip, is that switch a circuit breaker [of sorts]? Did you blow any fuses because of tying the switch up? Or is the switch just getting worn out...

Thanks for the info.

The top was never off on my 1990 Bronco. I had cracks which leaked by the B-pillar. I fixed them before I painted my truck simply by welding and grinding.

1990, 115K. As far as I can tell, the top has never been off. But I am not sure. I have never taken it off in the 3 years that I have owned it, and I do not want to. It's a hassle, and it's not like the whole thing opens up. There is still a roof over the driver's head.

Anyway, no leaks, no squeaks, no cracks. Knocking on that same piece of wood...

As far as common Bronco problems:

Auto hubs
Rear window
RABS
Power window motors and door lock actuators
valve cover gaskets
intake manifold gaskets
driveshaft

to name a few of the most common ones.

My top has never come off, and I've got leaks bad. I took it out of the garage for the first time in five weeks this morning and of course we are now under a flash flood watch with all of the heavy rains...
