How many wires have power at the relay when the key is on?

That's what I was wondering. That's what you should have. On the 4th wire at the pump relay, you should have power for 2 or 3 seconds after the key is turned on. If you don't get power on the 4th one then the PCM isn't doing it's job. Let's see if I lose you here...Unplug the relay and you should see power on 2...the 3rd one that had power goes to the PCM, plug the relay back in and ground that 3rd wire. Does the pump run?

What I'm saying is that the PCM provides the ground for the circuit for the relay to turn on.

O.K...This isn't easy to diagnose something w/out seeing it but, we'll give it a shot. I think your PCM is shot. What happened to blow the link? Do you have a "noid light"? If not , you may want to get one. It shows weather your injectors are firing or not. If they are not spraying when the pump runs then I will assume that they are not. If the pump will not run by itself, the comp is not telling it to. If you have power to the injectors and they don't fire, it's for the same reason. The computer has to "see" the engine turning ( signal from module) before it will fire the injectors. This could be from a bad module but, I don't think that it needs to "see" a signal to turn the pump relay on. That should turn on for 2 or 3 sec's when the key is turned on.

Have you checked all of the fuses? ( had to ask) Try this....remember that wire from the relay to the comp? Unplug the relay, connect an ohm meter from the wire to ground. You should see close to zero ohms for 2 or 3 seconds then, infinate resistance. If you don't see that then check all of your grounds. If they are okay, I think you will need a computer. I really hate to condemn those without checking everything else first. Have you tried to pull any codes? Do you get 11's? There is a link here somewhere if you don't know how to do that.

Well, since you work for AZ, take your module and alternater in and test them. Make sure the module is good and the alt isn't putting out too much. Other than that, my best educated guess would be that you must've gotten a spike big enough to take out the comp. Might want to look around for shorts too.

With the key on & engine off, both injector wires SHOULD have 12V - the EEC grounds the NON-red wire to open the injectors.

You don't need any scantool to pull EEC-IV codes - just a paperclip: read this.

I had a simular problem with my 88 e150 with a 302, finaly i got mad and hit the computer thing that's under the heater core.
Funny thing is that the fuel pump came on when i did that, then the van ran. now if i dont hear the pump come on when i hit the key, I just kick the computer and it runs!!

That is the computer Right? guess I should buy one huh
