Swapping rears

I'm attempting to swap two 9 inches between two different years of F series. The 9 inch i'm going to install in my 82 is coming out of a 76 F-100, are there any differences i should look out for? length or anything like that, that won't allow it to work in my 82?

If everything is ok, i'm going to swap them out this weekend...time permitting..

Any feedback is welcome, and any advice is appreciated.

measure the leaf pads on the axle center to center, if they match up your in buisness. Also a conversion u-joint may be needed.

The two rearends are identical in everyway. Either one will bolt into your 82.

Thanks for the info, i was just going to make sure that it wasn't like the mustangs and that they had different spring mount locations and track widths.... as i'd hate to go through all that work for naught.
