i have a '70 F250 360 with a 750cfm edelbrock preformer
well anyway my problem is that the brake lights won't work
i've checked the wires and they seem to be ok but i don't know (the guy who had it before me went redneck joe on the wiring harness).
it is not the bulbs
i'm thinking i need to buy a new switch and re run the wires
does anybody know if i can purchase a switch for this truck or wil i have to find one somewhere else
ps any ideas on fixing this prob. an easier way would be greatly appreciated. thanx
Did you remove the wires from the switch and run a jumper wire from wire to wire and see if they come on? If not any lights, then put a test light one wire and grounded to see if you have 12 volts ? If not then check the fuse
When my brake lights went out, I checked the bulbs, but they were good. I then checked for juice at the socket with the brake pedal depressed. That's when I noticed that the sockets were pretty crusty. I took a 1/2" copper pipe sweating brush and cleaned the inside of the sockets. That did the trick.
my problem on my 70 was the wires coming from the turn signal , after i pulled my steering wheel off and redid the wiring i had brake lights again also blinkers. i still have one on the drivers side not working right but i think thats just a ground problem. because if it works on one side it should work on the other unless your wires in the back are a mess like mine was, seems the orignal owner wanted to haul a trailer and instead of getting a plug and wiring it right he just sliced all the wires and used tape to hold them togather, took three hours with shrink wrap and a soldering iron to get it right again.
